Welcome back to part two of our three-part blog series on different types of training methods you can implement with Guides. We will go over three more training methods that will help your company empower employees with hands on learning, maximize training effectiveness, and adapt at the speed of change. Digital Twins
Digital Twins is what most people think when they think about Mixed Reality and Extended Reality. A cool video game and futuristic holograms. Digital Twins are much more than that. Digital Twins opens a new dimension to training. That is the ability to create training with or without physical equipment or machines. Whether a machine or tool is unavailable due to several reasons like in a tight space where training is less than ideal, or the number machine is limited because of cost or sheer weight. Digital Twins provides trainees the opportunity to get hands on without really getting hands on.
This training method is also an efficient way for trainees to learn about different components within an equipment or machine. In a matter of moments trainees can virtually go through the different components of a vehicle as opposed to physically breaking down each layer of the car to learn about each part.
Guided Procedure
In theory all Guides created are considered a guided procedure. However, in this case we are talking about complex tasks that are detail oriented and a single mistake has the potential to be very costly to clients. How we help reduce errors is by incorporating knowledge checks to help ensure trainees are competent at the task at hand. We utilize the Guides branching feature as a buffer or filter to make sure everyone on the frontline understands each step correctly. Guides is like an instructor, walking students step by step through procedures but instructorless. While trainees are alone with self-paced training, they feel supported every step of the process.
Virtual Instructor-led Training (VILT)
As a result of the pandemic most training was a Virtual Instructor-led Training done over a zoom or facetime like video call. Essentially the same as regular in person instructor-led training. Thanks to Guides new calling feature, we developed an innovative way to breathe new life into Virtual Instructor-led Training (VILT) is to have the instructor wear the HoloLens and broadcast the training to learners on their PCs. Unlike traditional instructor-led training, instructors don the HoloLens and share their field of view. The instructor field of view is key as that is the exact angle employees will see on the frontline. Guides provide a PowerPoint-like framework to teach from and add the ability to use holograms and animations to teach with. After an instructor walks students through a task, they can also show the digital simulation of the same task with an x-ray like view we talked about before. The digital aspect also provides the ability to enlarge, zoom in, and manipulate angles for detailed learning experience.
