‘Pitch Your Future’ in Bay City will award cash to small businesses

Five local entrepreneurs will take center stage at the State Theatre in Bay City on Nov. 8 to present their future business plans to a panel of industry experts in an inaugural event called “Business by the Bay: Pitch Your Future.”

The event, the brainchild of Bay Future, Inc. and the Michigan Small Business Development Center, is designed to foster small business prosperity and economic growth opportunities within Bay County’s entrepreneurial community.

The five finalists, chosen from candidates representing start-up or for-profit businesses in Bay County that have been operating for two years or less and have generated less than $1 million in revenue, are vying for cash awards ranging from $5,000 (grand prize) to $3,500 (second place) and $1,500 (third place).

“Our inaugural pool of Business by the Bay: Pitch Your Future candidates has proven to be a savvy and well-rounded group of individuals,” said Michelle Judd, Small Business Development Center contract business consultant for Bay County. “Participants supported each other by exchanging helpful tips and offering feedback on their respective business plans during our training sessions. Every one of these start-ups has a bright future.”

A 5 p.m. reception kicks off the night, followed by the pitch event from 6-8 p.m in front of a panel of judges and a live audience at the historic State Theatre, 913 Washington Ave. in downtown Bay City.

The event is open to the public and admission is free.
