Kansas City business confirms owner shot, killed at gas station

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Police are investigating a shooting that killed the owner of a popular Kansas City home improvement company.

An employee at Jericho Home Improvement confirmed John Bartrom, 46, died following a shooting near 71 Highway over the weekend.

Bartrom founded and owned Jericho Home Improvement. According to the company, the business is the largest independent kitchen and bath remodeling company in the country.

While the business confirmed Bartrom’s death, it declined to comment or release a statement on the future of the company.

Kansas City police responded to a shooting near 62nd Street and Prospect Avenue early Sunday morning. They found a man, later identified as Bartrom, lying in the parking lot of a gas station.

Officers said the victim suffered critical gunshot injuries and later died at the hospital.

Investigators haven’t said what they believe led to the shooting and have not released information about a possible shooter.
